Delhi Court Remands Alleged Co-Conspirator in Red Fort Blast to 10-Day NIA Custody
A Delhi court on Tuesday ordered 10 days of National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody for Jasir Bilal, identified as an “active co-conspirator” in the Red Fort car blast that occurred on November 18, 2025, claiming 15 lives.
The order was issued by Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna, who accepted the NIA’s request for extended custodial interrogation to further probe the alleged network behind the attack. According to investigators, Bilal is believed to have worked closely with suicide bomber Umar un Nabi, whose involvement in the explosion has already been established.
Security at the court complex was significantly heightened ahead of the hearing. Mediapersons were not permitted inside the premises, effectively turning the proceedings into a closed-door session. Officials stated that the restrictions were necessary due to the sensitivity of the case and ongoing counterterrorism operations.
The NIA argued that additional time was essential to uncover potential collaborators, funding channels, and operational details connected to the blast, which shook one of India’s most iconic monuments and raised national security concerns across the country.
The investigation continues as authorities track links that may extend beyond the capital, with the NIA expected to pursue digital evidence, communication records, and possible cross-border connections.
